Berkshires Satellite Reef

Williams College – one of the oldest colleges in the US (founded in 1793) – is hosting the creation of a community reef. This Berkshires Satellite Reef is now open for participation by people across the Berkshires region – and beyond. Please come and participate in one of the monthly community workshops if you live near by. Or post in your corals if you live further away. All contributors will be named in the gallery, and here on the official Crochet Coral Reef website.

The Berkshires Satellite Reef marks a new step in the development of the Crochet Coral Reef project: instead of showing in a gallery, the reef will be installed as an immersive installation in a theatrical space, accompanied on opening night by a special coral-inspired dance performance.

Hosted by Williams College’s renowned ’62 Center for Theatre & Dance, under the curatorial direction of theater professor Amy Holzapfel, everyone is welcome to participate in the Berkshires Satellite Reef, whether as a maker or audience member.
